These photos were shot in an apartment on the 10th floor of a 1970s residential building. The building, found in Naka-Meguro in the center of Tokyo, had been transformed into a photo-studio. Well known photographer Norio Kidera and stylist Fumiko Sakuhara, who works for Muji among others, created these pictures using only natural light and a subjective point of view. The goal and result are a soft and natural impression. The setting, on the other hand, was deliberately kept abstract and imaginative. Here the design played with shapes and colours, capturing a Karimoku New Standard that is open to the home and imagination of anybody that looks ahead and inspires.
This project involved location hunting, concept design and implementation, selection and direction of the photographer and stylist, and supervision of the shooting and postproduction.
