IFFT, Tokyo 2015

For IFFT Tokyo 2015, GDD designed, created, and implemented a stand for Karimoku New Standard.  The stand’s main feature was a 12 meter long wall made of hinoki (Japanese cypress) plywood.  This impressive wall worked as a large stage for the furniture collection as well as a display area for framed photos by photographer Norio Kidera.  These exhibition photos, originally used in the Milan Design Week exhibition, illustrated the manufacturing and origins of the Karimoku New Standard collection.  The photos trace the story from the hardwood forests in the north of Japan that provide the source material for Karimoku New Standard, to the the sawmills that process the trees, ...
