IFFT, Tokyo 2016

The Karimoku New Standard stand at the IFFT (Tokyo International Furniture Fair) was the platform to present a series of sofas.  This series included a luxurious leather version of BIG-GAME’s Castor Sofa and a special edition of the sofa produced in collaboration with American fabric manufacturer Maharam.  The small space allotted did not allow for any additional installations, yet the relatively expensive pieces needed to be presented appropriately.  To achieve this end the furniture was not set up in scenes but staged as individual objects on large podiums. To emphasise and reflect the high-grade leathers and fabrics used on the furniture, the walls and floors were done in dark colours.  The podiums were made of concrete fibre boards, which gave them an architectural, serene expression.
